Helping the Humane Society

"Mama" and her litter of 6 puppies.

My wife has a soft spot for dogs and heard, through a co-worker, that the Humane Society was looking for help with taking care of a number of both dogs and cats that have had babies. They were looking for people that could host the animals so that the little ones didn't get any sicknesses from the kennell since they were to young to be given shots to protect them. Well my wife decided to help with this mother and her 6 puppies. We are going to host these puppies until they are old enough to be put up for adaption it looks like, about 6 more weeks. "Mama", as she was named by someone is a Blue Healer but we don't know what bread the father is. It looks like some nice owner dumped "Mama" when they found out she was pregenat. Which is such a same, they spent the time to potty train her and then dump her, why? She also appears to be a very smart dog and is friendly, if not a little cautious still. A number of people have asked for photos so the following pages are the result of that. I will try to get a set of photos each week to show how they are growing up.

The first couple days were rought as "Mama" got used to use and we and our dogs got used to her. The puppies have just opened their eyes but move around like their in a gravity well twice what there used to.

The puppies are running around like little puppies now. We have had to get a small pen for them so that they don't have free access to the whole kitchen when we are not around. They are also eating semi-solid and solid food now. "Mama" has pretty much stopped feeding them because they have teeth now. The little guys have a stong set of jaws if they get ahold of you.

A little late with this update so it is two weeks of pictures. The puppies are up and running around know. We have also started taking them outside to run in the yard.

The last week that we had the little guys. Full blown puppy mode going on here.
